With the details of the Dion Waiter's trade finally being finalised (after what seemed to be the most confusing trade in recent memory), the Cavaliers, Thunder and Knicks have agreed in principle to be involved in a six player trade which goes as follows:
Cleveland receives: Iman Shumpert and J.R Smith
Thunder receive: Dion Waiters
New York receive: Alex Kirk, Lance Thomas and Lou Amundson (plus a protected first round pick from OKC and a second round pick from the Cavs)
The trade gives the Cavs a nice defensive wing player to slot into the starting lineup, plus a deadly shooter in Smith. Dion Waiters can either become a starter at Oklahoma or can come off the bench. Waiters is a great insurance incase PG Reggie Jackson leaves in free agency, nonetheless a great pick up for the Thunder. The Knicks will waive all three players received which will clear cap space. giving them a lot more financial flexibility to either make another trade or to wait until free agency.
Another detail following the trade is that the Knicks are planning on waiving C Samuel Dalembert, who has been linked to Cleveland.
